Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: In the blessed time of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), I married a woman. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "O Jabir! Have you married?" I said: "Yes!" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "A virgin or a previously married woman?" I said: "A previously married woman." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Why not a virgin, so that you could play with her and she could play with you?" Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I said: "O Messenger of Allah! I have sisters, and I fear that she might come between me and my sisters." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A woman is married for her religion, or her wealth, or her beauty; so you must choose the religious one, may your hands be covered in dust!" (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say:

Sayyiduna Awf bin Malik al-Ashja'i (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Visit the sick and follow the funeral. There is no harm upon you if you do not attend a wedding, and there is no harm upon you if you do not marry a woman because of her beauty, for it may be that she does not bring any good; and there is no harm upon you if you do not marry a woman because of the abundance of her wealth, for it may be that her wealth does not bring any good. Rather, seek out (or give preference to) women of religion and trustworthiness."
Al-Bazzar recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Yazid bin Iyad, who is matruk (abandoned).
