بَابُ عَلَيْكَ بِذَاتِ الدِّينِ .

وَعَنْ عَوْفِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ الْأَشْجَعِيِّ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " عُودُوا الْمَرِيضَ وَاتَّبِعُوا الْجِنَازَةَ ، وَلَا عَلَيْكُمْ أَنْ لَا تَأْتُوا الْعُرْسَ ، وَلَا عَلَيْكُمْ أَنْ لَا تَنْكِحُوا الْمَرْأَةَ مِنْ أَجْلِ حُسْنِهَا فَعَلَّ أَنْ لَا تَأْتِيَ بِخَيْرٍ ، وَلَا عَلَيْكُمْ أَنْ لَا تَنْكِحُوا الْمَرْأَةَ لِكَثْرَةِ مَالِهَا وَعَلَّ مَالَهَا أَنْ لَا يَأْتِيَ بِخَيْرٍ ، وَلَكِنْ بِذَاتِ الدِّينِ وَالْأَمَانَةِ فَاتَّبِعُوهُنَّ " .
رَوَاهُ الْبَزَّارُ ، وَفِيهِ يَزِيدُ بْنُ عِيَاضٍ ، وَهُوَ مَتْرُوكٌ .

Sayyiduna Awf bin Malik al-Ashja'i (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Visit the sick and follow the funeral. There is no harm upon you if you do not attend a wedding, and there is no harm upon you if you do not marry a woman because of her beauty, for it may be that she does not bring any good; and there is no harm upon you if you do not marry a woman because of the abundance of her wealth, for it may be that her wealth does not bring any good. Rather, seek out (or give preference to) women of religion and trustworthiness."
