Hassan bin Bilal says: Yazid bin Qatadah related that a man from his family died while not following the religion of Islam. So my sister inherited from him instead of me, as she was following his religion. Then my father accepted Islam and took part in the Battle of Hunayn with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Then he passed away, and I took his entire inheritance. He had left a slave and a date-palm orchard. Then my sister also accepted Islam and brought a case against me about the inheritance before Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him). Sayyiduna Abdullah bin al-Arqam (may Allah be pleased with him) told me that Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) had ruled that whoever accepts Islam before an inheritance is divided shall receive a share of it. So Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) ruled accordingly. Thus she took the first (inheritance) and also became my partner in this one.
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih, except for Hassan bin Bilal, and he is thiqah (trustworthy).

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) reports that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Every inheritance that reaches the time of Islam without yet having been divided shall be divided according to the rulings of Islam."
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Muhammad bin al-Fadl bin Atiyyah, and he is extremely da'if (weak).
