Muhammad bin Kurayb narrates from his father, from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), from Sayyiduna Sinan bin Abdullah al-Juhani (may Allah be pleased with him): His paternal aunt told him that she came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "O Messenger of Allah, my mother has died, and she was bound by a vow to walk on foot to the Ka'bah." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Are you able to walk on her behalf?" The woman said: "Yes." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then walk on behalf of your mother." The woman said: "Will that suffice for her?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes. What do you think: if your mother owed a debt and you paid it on her behalf, would it be accepted from you?" The woman replied: "Yes." So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Allah Almighty has more right to that."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, and the narrator Muhammad bin Kurayb is da'if (weak).

Sayyiduna Marwan bin Qays (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates (he had taken over the herding (ra'iyyah) from his family in the blessed time of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)); he narrates: A man came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "O Messenger of Allah, my father has died. He had vowed that he would walk on foot to Makkah and slaughter a camel, and he has left no wealth. Will this vow be fulfilled on his behalf if someone walks on his behalf and I slaughter a camel for him from my own wealth?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes. Fulfil it on his behalf, slaughter on his behalf, and walk on his behalf. What do you think: if your father owed a debt to a man and you paid it on his behalf from your own wealth, would that man not go back pleased? So Allah Almighty has more right to be pleased."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).

Hadith Takhrij «
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Al-As bin Wa'il vowed in the Days of Ignorance that he would slaughter one hundred camels. Hisham bin al-As slaughtered fifty camels as his share. Sayyiduna Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about this, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If your father had affirmed the Oneness of Allah (tawhid), then if you fasted and gave charity on his behalf, that would benefit him."
Ahmad recorded it; its chain contains al-Hajjaj bin Artah, who is a mudallis (one who conceals defects in the chain).
