Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered me to sell two slave boys who were brothers. In selling them, I separated them from each other. Then I mentioned this to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he said: Go after them both, take them both back, and sell them together. (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Abu Dawud recorded a hadith from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had given those two slaves to him as a gift, and that he sold one of them.
Ahmad recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.

Sayyiduna Dumayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by Umm Dumayrah (may Allah be pleased with her), who was weeping. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: What is the matter with you? Are you hungry, or are you in need of clothing? That woman said: O Messenger of Allah! I have been separated from my son. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: A mother and her child shall not be separated. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent word to the man in whose ownership that woman was, and that man returned the woman to the man from whom he had bought her. Then he bought them from that man. Ibn Abi Dhi'b says: Then he had me read a document that he had with him (in which was written): "In the name of Allah Almighty, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. This is from the Messenger of Allah to Abu Dumayrah and his household: the Messenger of Allah has freed them, and they shall be counted as an Arab household. If they wish, they may stay with the Messenger of Allah, and if they wish, they may return to their people. They are to be treated only with good."
Al-Bazzar recorded it; its chain contains a narrator Husayn bin Abdullah bin Dumayrah, who is matruk (abandoned) and a kadhdhab (liar).
