Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: In the year of the Conquest, in Makkah, I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "Indeed, Allah and His Messenger have declared unlawful the selling of wine, dead animals and swine." It was said: "O Messenger of Allah! What is your view about the fat of dead animals, for boats are greased with it, hides are oiled with it, and people use it for lamps?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No! It is unlawful." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "May Allah Almighty destroy the Jews! When Allah Almighty declared fat unlawful for them, they melted it, then sold it and consumed its price."
Ahmad and al-Tabarani in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat recorded it, except that he reported these words: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade the price of a dog, the price of swine, the earnings of a prostitute, and the fee for giving a stud animal for mating. The narrators of Ahmad are thiqat (trustworthy), and the chain of al-Tabarani is hasan (good).

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) conquered Makkah, he said: "Indeed, Allah and His Messenger have declared unlawful for you the drinking of wine and its price; He has declared unlawful for you the eating of dead animals and their price; and He has declared unlawful for you swine, eating them and their price. Trim your moustaches and let your beards grow, and when you walk in the markets, you must be wearing a waist-wrapper, for whoever acts upon the way of others than us is not from us."
Al-Tabarani recorded it as a long narration in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and in abridged form in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains Yusuf bin Maymun, whom Ibn Hibban declared thiqah (trustworthy), while the Imams, namely Ahmad and others, declared him da'if (weak).
