بَابُ الْعُمْرَةِ فِي رَمَضَانَ .

عَنْ عَلِيٍّ - يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَبِي طَالِبٍ - قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " عُمْرَةٌ فِي رَمَضَانَ تَعْدِلُ حَجَّةً " .
رَوَاهُ الْبَزَّارُ ، وَفِيهِ حَرْبُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ; وَلَمْ أَجِدْ مَنْ تَرْجَمَهُ ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ ثِقَاتٌ .

Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Performing Umrah in Ramadan is equal to a Hajj."
Imam al-Bazzar recorded this narration; its chain contains a narrator, Harb bin Ali, and I have not found anyone who has given his biography; the rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).

وَعَنْ أَبِي طَلِيقٍ أَنَّ امْرَأَتَهُ قَالَتْ لَهُ - وَلَهُ جَمَلٌ وَنَاقَةٌ : أَعْطِنِي جَمَلَكَ أَحُجُّ عَلَيْهِ ، قَالَ : هُوَ حَبِيسٌ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَتْ : إِنَّهُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ أَنْ أَحُجَّ عَلَيْهِ ، قَالَتْ : فَأَعْطِنِي النَّاقَةَ ، وَحُجَّ عَلَى جَمَلِكَ ، قَالَ : لَا أُوثِرُ عَلَى نَفْسِي أَحَدًا قَالَتْ : فَأَعْطِنِي مِنْ نَفَقَتِكَ ، قَالَ : مَا عِنْدِي فَضْلٌ عَنْ مَا أَخْرُجُ بِهِ وَأَدَعُ لَكُمْ وَلَوْ كَانَ مَعِي لَأَعْطَيْتُكِ ، قَالَتْ : فَإِذْ فَعَلْتَ مَا فَعَلْتَ فَأَقْرِئْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - السَّلَامَ إِذَا لَقِيتَهُ وَقُلْ لَهُ الَّذِي قُلْتُ لَكَ ، فَلَمَّا لَقِيَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - أَقْرَأَهُ مِنْهَا السَّلَامَ وَأَخْبَرَهُ بِالَّذِي قَالَتْ لَهُ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " صَدَقَتْ أُمُّ طَلِيقٍ ; لَوْ أَعْطَيْتَهَا جَمَلَكَ كَانَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ ، وَلَوْ أَعْطَيْتَهَا مِنْ نَفَقَتِكَ أَخْلَفَهَا اللَّهُ لَكَ " ، قُلْتُ : فَمَا يَعْدِلُ الْحَجَّ مَعَكَ ؟ قَالَ : " عُمْرَةٌ فِي رَمَضَانَ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ وَالْبَزَّارُ بِاخْتِصَارٍ عَنْهُ ، وَرِجَالُ الْبَزَّارِ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .

Sayyiduna Abu Taliq (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that his wife said to him, and he had a camel and a she-camel, (his wife said): "Give me your camel so that I may perform Hajj on it." He replied: "It is dedicated to the path of Allah." That lady said: "If I perform Hajj on it, that too will be in the path of Allah." Then that lady said: "Give me the she-camel, and you perform Hajj on your camel." He said: "I will not prefer anyone over myself." That lady said: "Then give me some of your expenses." He said: "I have no extra money, only what I can set out with myself and leave for you people. If I had it, I would have given it to you." That lady said: "Do whatever you are going to do, but when you meet the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), convey my greeting of peace to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and tell him what I have said to you." When he met the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he conveyed that lady's greeting of peace to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and told him what that lady had said to him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Umm Taliq has spoken the truth. If you give her your camel, your camel will still be counted in the path of Allah, and if you give her some of your expenses, Allah Almighty will grant you more in its place." The narrator says: I asked: "What can equal performing Hajj with you?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Performing Umrah in Ramadan."

وَعَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ وَابْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : " عُمْرَةٌ فِي رَمَضَانَ تَعْدِلُ حَجَّةً " .
قُلْتُ : حَدِيثُ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فِي الصَّحِيحِ .

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) and Sayyiduna Abdullah bin al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with them both) report this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Performing Umrah in Ramadan is equal to a Hajj."
(Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: The hadith narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) is mentioned in the Sahih.

وَعَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ - رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ - أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - يَقُولُ : " عُمْرَةٌ فِي رَمَضَانَ كَحَجَّةٍ مَعِي " .

Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that he heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Performing Umrah in Ramadan is like performing Hajj with me."

وَعَنْ عُرْوَةَ الْبَارِقِيِّ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " عُمْرَةٌ فِي رَمَضَانَ تَعْدِلُ حَجَّةً " .

Sayyiduna Urwah al-Bariqi (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Performing Umrah in Ramadan is equal to a Hajj."
