Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) reports that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There are five animals, each of which is harmful (fasiq); a person in ihram may kill them, and they may be killed within the boundaries of the Haram: the mouse, the scorpion, the snake, the rabid dog and the crow."
Ahmad and Abu Ya'la recorded it; he (Abu Ya'la) mentioned the kite in place of the snake. Al-Bazzar, and al-Tabarani in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, recorded part of it. Its chain contains a narrator, Layth bin Abi Sulaym, who is thiqah (trustworthy), but a mudallis (one who practises tadlis).
