Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "There is no harm in a man entering ihram in a garment dyed with saffron that has been washed, so that no colour rubs off from it onto the body and no trace of the scent remains."
Abu Ya'la and al-Bazzar recorded it. Its chain contains Husayn bin Abdullah bin Ubaydullah, who is da'if (weak).

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amir bin Rabi'ah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) heard, in the middle of the night, the voice of Ibn al-Mughtarif (the narrator is unsure; perhaps the words are:) Ibn al-Gharif, who was chanting camel-driving songs (huda'). At that time we were travelling to Makkah. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) urged his mount on until he joined the people, and he (the singer) was with Sayyiduna Abdul Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him). When true dawn broke, Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Now be silent (from chanting); true dawn has broken. Remember Allah." The narrator says: Then Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) saw that Sayyiduna Abdul Rahman (may Allah be pleased with him) was wearing leather socks (khuffs), so he asked: "Are you wearing leather socks?" Sayyiduna Abdul Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) replied: "I wore them in the company of one who is better than you (the narrator is unsure; perhaps the words are:) I wore them in the company of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)." Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "I urge you strongly to take them off, for I fear that people will look at you and then follow your example."

In one narration the words are: "I wore them in the company of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)", that is, these words are without any doubt.
Ahmad recorded it. Its chain contains a narrator, Asim bin Ubaydullah, who is da'if (weak).
