Sayyiduna Salman al-Farisi (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever gives a fasting person food and drink from what is lawful to break his fast with, the angels keep praying for mercy for him throughout all the hours of the month of Ramadan, and on the Night of Decree (Laylat al-Qadr) Sayyiduna Jibril (peace be upon him) prays for forgiveness for him."
Imam al-Tabarani recorded this narration in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, and Imam al-Bazzar recorded it, and he added these words after "the Night of Decree": "That person is granted tears and tenderness (of heart)." Sayyiduna Salman al-Farisi (may Allah be pleased with him) asked: "What if a person is not able to provide the fasting person with his full food?" He said: "(Then) with a piece of bread, or a sip of milk, or a drink of water, he will still receive this reward." Its chain contains a narrator, al-Hasan bin Abi Ja'far. Ibn Adi said: Sound (salih) hadiths are narrated from him, and he is saduq (truthful). I say: There is criticism about him.
