عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو الْأُمَوِيِّ قَالَ : قِيلَ لِعَائِشَةَ : رُئِيَ هَذَا الشَّهْرُ لِتِسْعٍ وَعِشْرِينَ . قَالَتْ : وَمَا يُعْجِبُكَ مِنْ ذَاكَ ؟ لِمَا صُمْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تِسْعًا وَعِشْرِينَ أَكْثَرَ مِمَّا صُمْنَا ثَلَاثِينَ .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ ، وَالطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَرِجَالُ أَحْمَدَ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .

Sa'id bin Amr al-Umawi states: It was said to Sayyidah Aishah al-Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her): "This month the crescent has been seen after twenty-nine days." Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "What surprises you about that? I fasted twenty-nine days with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) more often than we fasted thirty."
