بَابُ صَدَقَةِ السِّرِّ .

عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ حَيْدَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : " إِنَّ صَدَقَةَ السِّرِّ تُطْفِئُ غَضَبَ الرَّبِّ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ وَالْأَوْسَطِ أَطْوَلَ مِنْ هَذَا - وَيَأْتِي بِطُولِهِ فِي الْبِرِّ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ - وَفِيهِ صَدَقَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ; وَثَّقَهُ دُحَيْمٌ ، وَضَعَّفَهُ جَمَاعَةٌ .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ وَالْأَوْسَطِ أَطْوَلَ مِنْ هَذَا - وَيَأْتِي بِطُولِهِ فِي الْبِرِّ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ - وَفِيهِ صَدَقَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ; وَثَّقَهُ دُحَيْمٌ ، وَضَعَّفَهُ جَمَاعَةٌ .
Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah bin Haydah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Giving charity in secret extinguishes the anger of the Lord."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat as a longer narration than this. That long narration will come later in the chapter on righteousness, if Allah wills. The chain of this narration contains a narrator, Sadaqah bin Abdullah, whom Duhaym declared thiqah (trustworthy), while a group declared him da'if (weak).
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat as a longer narration than this. That long narration will come later in the chapter on righteousness, if Allah wills. وَعَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " صَنَائِعُ الْمَعْرُوفِ تَقِي مَصَارِعَ السُّوءِ ، وَصَدَقَةُ السِّرِّ تُطْفِئُ غَضَبَ الرَّبِّ ، وَصِلَةُ الرَّحِمِ تَزِيدُ فِي الْعُمُرِ " .

Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Doing good deeds protects against an evil death; secret charity extinguishes the anger of Allah Almighty; and maintaining ties of kinship increases one's lifespan."

وَعَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ : قُلْتُ لِعَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ : حَدِّثْنَا حَدِيثًا سَمِعْتَهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - ؟ فَقَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - يَقُولُ : " صَدَقَةُ السِّرِّ تُطْفِئُ غَضَبَ الرَّبِّ " .

Sayyiduna Imam Abu Ja'far Muhammad bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) (that is, Imam al-Baqir) narrates: I said to Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Ja'far (may Allah be pleased with him): Narrate to us a hadith that you heard from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) himself. He said: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Giving charity in secret extinguishes the anger of the Lord."

وَعَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ قَالَتْ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " صَنَائِعُ الْمَعْرُوفِ تَقِي مُصَارِعَ السُّوءِ ، وَالصَّدَقَةُ خَفْيًا تُطْفِئُ غَضَبَ الرَّبِّ ، وَصِلَةُ الرَّحِمِ زِيَادَةٌ فِي الْعُمُرِ ، وَكُلُّ مَعْرُوفٍ صَدَقَةٌ ، وَأَهْلُ الْمَعْرُوفِ فِي الدُّنْيَا هُمْ أَهْلُ الْمَعْرُوفِ فِي الْآخِرَةِ ، وَأَهْلُ الْمُنْكَرِ فِي الدُّنْيَا أَهْلُ الْمُنْكَرِ فِي الْآخِرَةِ ، وَأَوَّلُ مَنْ يَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ أَهْلُ الْمَعْرُوفِ " .

Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Doing good protects against an evil death; giving charity in secret extinguishes the anger of the Lord; maintaining ties of kinship increases one's lifespan; every good deed is charity; those who do good in this world will be counted among those who do good in the Hereafter; those who do evil in this world will be counted among those who do evil in the Hereafter; and the people who do good will be the first to enter Paradise."
