Sayyiduna Abd al-Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) reports this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "There are three things, by the One in whose Hand is my soul, if I wished I could even swear an oath upon them: that wealth does not decrease because of charity, so give charity; and whenever a servant forgives a wrong done to him, seeking thereby the pleasure of Allah Almighty, Allah Almighty will increase his honour because of it on the Day of Resurrection; and whichever servant opens a door of asking, Allah Almighty opens upon him a door of poverty."
Ahmad, Abu Ya'la and al-Bazzar recorded it. Its chain contains a narrator who has not been named. Al-Bazzar recorded it through another chain from Abu Salamah, from his father, and he stated: This narration is more authentic. And Allah knows best.

Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Wealth does not decrease because of charity. When a man forgives a wrong, Allah Almighty increases his honour because of it, so forgive, and Allah Almighty will grant you honour. And whoever opens a door of asking upon himself, Allah Almighty opens upon him a door of poverty."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Saghir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains a narrator, Zakariyya bin Duwayd, and he is extremely weak (da'if jiddan).
