Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Once a man was watering his field when he saw a cloud, and he heard a voice in that cloud saying: "Water the land of so-and-so." The man followed the voice until he reached the land that had been named. He asked the owner of that land: "What practice do you follow with this land?" He said: "I put one third of it back into it, I give one third in charity, and I keep one third for my family."

Masruq narrates: Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) used to send word to his land that the same should be done with it.
Al-Tabarani recorded both narrations in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, and the narrators of both are the narrators of the Sahih.
