Abu Hazim narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) (the narrator said: I think he attributed it to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)): "When death comes to the believer and he sees what he sees, he wishes that his soul would come out, and Allah loves to meet him. The believer's soul is taken up to the heaven, and the souls of the believers come to him and ask him about their acquaintances among the people of the earth. When he says: 'I left so-and-so in the world,' that pleases them; and when he says: 'So-and-so has died,' they say: 'He has not been brought to us.' The believer sits up in his grave and is asked: 'Who is his Lord?' He says: 'My Lord is Allah.' The angel says: 'Who is your Prophet?' He says: 'My Prophet is Sayyiduna Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him).' The angel says: 'Then what is your religion?' He says: 'My religion is Islam.' Then a door is opened for him in his grave, and the angel says (or: it is said): 'Look at your abode.' Then he sees the grave as though it had been only a sleep. And when it is an enemy of Allah, death comes to him and he sees what he sees, he never wants his soul to come out, and Allah hates to meet him. When he sits in his grave, or is made to sit, it is said to him: 'Who is your Lord?' He says: 'I do not know.' It is said: 'You did not gain understanding.' Then a door of Hell is opened for him, and then he is struck a blow that every creature hears except mankind and jinn. Then it is said to him: 'Sleep as the manhus sleeps.'" (Abu Hazim said:) I asked Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him): "What is the manhus?" He said: "The one whom creeping creatures and locusts gnaw at." "Then his grave is made narrow for him."
(Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Part of this report is in the Sahih.
Al-Bazzar recorded it, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy), except Sa'id bin Bahr al-Qaratisi, whom I do not know.

Sayyidah Aishah Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: I said: "O Messenger of Allah, this Ummah will be tried in its graves, so what do you think about me, when I am a weak woman?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited this verse: "Allah keeps firm those who believe with the firm word in the life of this world and in the Hereafter."

Sayyiduna Abu Rafi' (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Once I was passing through Baqi' al-Gharqad with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), walking behind him, when he said: "You were not guided, nor did you find guidance! You were not guided, nor did you find guidance! You were not guided, nor did you find guidance!" Sayyiduna Abu Rafi' (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "O Messenger of Allah, what is wrong with me?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I do not mean you; rather I mean the occupant of this grave. He was asked about me, and he said that he did not know me." The narrator said: It was a grave on which water had been sprinkled after its occupant was buried (that is, it was a freshly made grave).
Al-Bazzar and al-Tabarani in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir recorded it, and its chain contains a narrator whom I do not know.
