Safwan bin Amr al-Saksaki narrates: We attended a funeral, and the family of the deceased wanted to lower him into the grave from the side of the qiblah. So Karb al-Yahsubi related that Sayyiduna al-Nu'man bin Bashir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated:
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Every house has a door, and the door of the grave is on the side of the feet."
Imam Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir. Its chain contains a group of narrators who are not known.

A narrator named Muhammad narrates: I attended a funeral with Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him). He gave instructions about the deceased, and he was lowered into the grave from the foot end of the grave.
Imam Ahmad recorded it, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).

Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) says: It is the Sunnah that the burial of the deceased and the throwing of soil should begin from the side of the qiblah.
Imam Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains a narrator, Ubaydah bin Hassan, and he is da'if (weak).
