عَنْ كَثِيرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ : أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ ذِي النِّجَادَيْنِ الَّذِي هَلَكَ فِي غَزْوَةِ تَبُوكَ فِي جَوْفِ اللَّيْلِ ، فَنَزَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - فِي حُفْرَتِهِ ، وَقَالَ لِأَبِي بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرَ : " دَلِّيَا إِلَيَّ أَخَاكُمَا " ، فَلَمَّا وَضَعَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - فِي لَحْدِهِ قَالَ : " اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي رَاضٍ عَنْهُ فَارْضَ عَنْهُ " ، فَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ : وَاللَّهِ لَوَدِدْتُ أَنِّي صَاحِبُ الْحُفْرَةِ .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ . وَكَثِيرٌ : ضَعِيفٌ .

Kathir bin Abdullah narrated this report from his father, from his grandfather: Abdullah Dhu al-Nijadayn died during the Battle of Tabuk at night. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went down into his grave and said to Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him): "Lower your brother to me." When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had placed him in the lahd (niche of the grave), he said: "O Allah, I am pleased with him, so be pleased with him." Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "By Allah, I wished that I were the occupant of this grave."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. The narrator Kathir is da'if (weak).
