Sayyiduna Abu al-Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Everything has a beginning, and the beginning of the prayer is the first takbir, so guard it." Abu Abdullah said: I narrated this report to Raja bin Haywah, and he said: Sayyidah Umm al-Darda (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated this hadith to me from Sayyiduna Abu al-Darda (may Allah be pleased with him), from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).

Sa'id bin al-Harith narrates: Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) fell ill (the narrator is unsure; perhaps the words are:) was absent, so Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) led us in prayer. He said the takbir aloud at the beginning of the prayer; he said the takbir aloud when going into bowing; when he had said "Sami' Allahu liman hamidah" he said the takbir at that time; when he raised his head from prostration he said the takbir at that time; when he went into prostration he said it at that time; and when he stood up after two rak'ahs (he said the takbir aloud) at that time, until he completed his prayer in this manner. When he had completed the prayer, it was said to him: "The people have differed about your prayer." So he went out, stood on the pulpit and said: "O people! By Allah, I do not care whether your prayer differs or does not differ; I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) praying like this." Allamah al-Haythami says: I say: This narration is recorded in the "Sahih" in abridged form.
Ahmad recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the "Sahih".
