Sayyiduna Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that he went into bowing before reaching the row. (After the prayer) the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "May Allah Almighty increase your eagerness, but do not do this again. Pray whatever part of the prayer you catch, and make up (qada) whatever has already passed (i.e. offer it afterwards)." (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: This narration is in the Sahih and other books as well, but without these words: "Pray whatever part of the prayer you catch, and make up whatever has already passed."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains Abdullah bin Isa al-Khazzaz, who is da'if (weak). (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Hadiths on this topic have already passed in the chapter on walking to the prayer.

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) says concerning a person who misses part of the prayer behind the imam; he says: Whatever of the prayer he caught with the imam, he is to make it the last part of his prayer.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.

Hadith Takhrij«2400 المعجم الكبير للطبراني من اسمه عبد الله ، عبد الله بن مسعود الهذلي باب ، 9222»
It is reported concerning Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him): Once Jundub and Masruq (both of them are Tabi'un) caught one rak'ah; the narrator says: that is, they caught one rak'ah of the Maghrib prayer behind the imam. Jundub recited behind the imam, while Masruq did not recite. When the imam said the salam, the two of them stood up and began to make up the prayer they had missed. Masruq sat after the second rak'ah and also sat after the third rak'ah, whereas Jundub stood up after the second rak'ah and did not sit. When the two of them had completed the prayer, they discussed this matter, and they came to Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him). He said: Both of you have done right (the narrator is unsure; perhaps the words are: Both of you have done well), and do as Masruq does.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir with several chains, in one of which a narrator has dropped out; and in this chain there is Jabir al-Ju'fi, whom most scholars have declared weak.
