بَابٌ فِي الصَّلَاةِ بَيْنَ الْقُبُورِ وَاتِّخَاذِهَا مَسَاجِدَ وَالصَّلَاةِ إِلَيْهَا .

عَنْ أُسَامَةَ بْنِ زَيْدٍ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " أَدْخِلْ عَلَيَّ أَصْحَابِي " فَدَخَلُوا عَلَيْهِ ، فَكَشَفَ الْقِنَاعَ ثُمَّ قَالَ : " لَعَنَ اللَّهُ الْيَهُودَ وَالنَّصَارَى اتَّخَذُوا قُبُورَ أَنْبِيَائِهِمْ مَسَاجِدَ " .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ وَالطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ وَرِجَالُهُ مُوَثَّقُونَ .

Sayyiduna Usamah bin Zayd (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Bring my Companions in to me." His Companions came into his presence, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) removed the covering and then said: "May Allah Almighty curse the Jews and the Christians, who took the graves of their prophets as places of prostration."

وَعَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : " لَعَنَ اللَّهُ الْيَهُودَ اتَّخَذُوا قُبُورَ أَنْبِيَائِهِمْ مَسَاجِدَ " .

Sayyiduna Zayd bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "May Allah Almighty curse the Jews, who took the graves of their prophets as mosques."

وَعَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ - يَعْنِي ابْنَ مَسْعُودٍ - قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - يَقُولُ : " مِنْ شَرَارِ النَّاسِ مَنْ تُدْرِكُهُمُ السَّاعَةُ وَهُمْ أَحْيَاءٌ ، وَمَنْ يَتَّخِذِ الْقُبُورَ مَسَاجِدَ " .

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Among the worst of people will be those whom the Hour overtakes while they are still alive, and those (who are among the worst) who take graves as mosques."

وَعَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " لَا تُصَلُّوا إِلَى قَبْرٍ وَلَا تُصَلُّوا عَلَى قَبْرٍ " .

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not pray facing a grave, and do not pray on a grave."

وَعَنْ عَوْنِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ : لَقِيتُ وَاثِلَةَ بْنَ الْأَسْقَعِ فَقُلْتُ : مَا أَعْمَلَنِي إِلَى الشَّامِ غَيْرُكَ ، فَحَدِّثْنِي بِمَا سَمِعْتَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - يَقُولُ : " اللَّهُمَّ ارْحَمْنَا وَاغْفِرْ لَنَا " وَنَهَانَا أَنْ نُصَلِّيَ إِلَى الْقُبُورِ أَوْ نَجْلِسَ عَلَيْهَا .

Awn bin Abdullah narrates: I met Sayyiduna Wathilah bin al-Asqa' and said: The only purpose of my coming to Syria is to meet you, so narrate to me a hadith that you heard from the mouth of the Prophet of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). He said: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "O Allah, have mercy on us and forgive us." And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade us from praying facing graves or sitting on them.

وَعَنْ أَنَسٍ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - نَهَى عَنِ الصَّلَاةِ بَيْنَ الْقُبُورِ .

Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade praying between graves.

وَعَنْ عَلِيٍّ - يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَبِي طَالِبٍ - قَالَ : قَالَ لِيَ النَّبِيُّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - فِي مَرَضِهِ الَّذِي مَاتَ فِيهِ : " ائْذَنْ لِلنَّاسِ عَلَيَّ " فَأَذِنْتُ قَالَ : " لَعَنَ اللَّهُ قَوْمًا اتَّخَذُوا قُبُورَ أَنْبِيَائِهِمْ مَسْجِدًا " ثُمَّ أُغْمِيَ عَلَيْهِ ، فَلَمَّا أَفَاقَ قَالَ : " يَا عَلِيُّ ائْذَنْ لِلنَّاسِ عَلَيَّ " فَأَذِنْتُ لِلنَّاسِ عَلَيْهِ فَقَالَ " لَعَنَ اللَّهُ قَوْمًا اتَّخَذُوا قُبُورَ أَنْبِيَائِهِمْ مَسْجِدًا " ثُمَّ أُغْمِيَ عَلَيْهِ ، فَلَمَّا أَفَاقَ قَالَ : " يَا عَلِيُّ ائْذَنْ لِلنَّاسِ " فَأَذِنْتُ لَهُمْ فَقَالَ : " لَعَنَ اللَّهُ قَوْمًا اتَّخَذُوا قُبُورَ أَنْبِيَائِهِمْ مَسْجِدًا" ، ثَلَاثًا فِي مَرَضِ مَوْتِهِ .
رَوَاهُ الْبَزَّارُ وَفِيهِ أَبُو الرُّقَادِ لَمْ يَرْوِ عَنْهُ غَيْرُ حُنَيْفٍ الْمُؤَذِّنِ ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ مُوَثَّقُونَ .
رَوَاهُ الْبَزَّارُ وَفِيهِ أَبُو الرُّقَادِ لَمْ يَرْوِ عَنْهُ غَيْرُ حُنَيْفٍ الْمُؤَذِّنِ ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ مُوَثَّقُونَ .
Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: During the illness in which he passed away, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me: "Give the people permission to come in to me." I gave permission, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "May Allah Almighty curse a people who took the graves of their prophets as a mosque." Then he fainted. When he came to, he said: "O Ali, give the people permission to come in to me." I gave them permission to come in, and he said: "May Allah Almighty curse a people who took the graves of their prophets as a mosque." Then he fainted again. When he regained consciousness, he said: "O Ali, give the people permission to come in to me." I gave permission, and he said: "May Allah Almighty curse a people who took the graves of their prophets as a mosque." (The narrator says:) That is, he said this three times during his final illness.

وَعَنْ أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ بْنِ الْجَرَّاحِ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " لَعَنَ اللَّهُ الْيَهُودَ اتَّخَذُوا قُبُورَ أَنْبِيَائِهِمْ مَسَاجِدَ " ، قَالَ : وَأَحْسَبُهُ قَالَ : "أَخْرِجُوا الْيَهُودَ مِنْ أَرْضِ الْحِجَازِ " .

Sayyiduna Abu Ubaydah bin al-Jarrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "May Allah Almighty curse the Jews, who took the graves of their prophets as mosques." The narrator says: I think he (peace and blessings be upon him) also said: "Expel the Jews from the land of the Hijaz."

وَعَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : " اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ أَنْ يُتَّخَذَ قَبْرِي وَثَنًا ، فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى اشْتَدَّ غَضَبُهُ عَلَى قَوْمٍ اتَّخَذُوا قُبُورَ أَنْبِيَائِهِمْ مَسَاجِدَ " .
رَوَاهُ الْبَزَّارُ وَفِيهِ عُمَرُ بْنُ صُهْبَانَ وَقَدِ اجْتَمَعُوا عَلَى ضَعْفِهِ .

Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said (that is, he supplicated): "O Allah, I seek refuge in You from my grave being made an idol. Indeed, the wrath of Allah Almighty is severe upon a people who took the graves of their prophets as mosques."
