Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 2061

Awn bin Abdullah narrates: I met Sayyiduna Wathilah bin al-Asqa' and said: The only purpose of my coming to Syria is to meet you, so narrate to me a hadith that you heard from the mouth of the Prophet of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). He said: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "O Allah, have mercy on us and forgive us." And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade us from praying facing graves or sitting on them.
Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains Hajjaj bin Artah, about whom there is criticism.
