Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I do not like that your mu'adhdhins should be your blind people. The narrator says: I think he also said: nor your reciters (should be your blind people).
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).

Sayyiduna Zayd bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Bilal gives the adhan while it is still night (that is, a little before true dawn), so keep eating and drinking until Ibn Umm Maktum gives the adhan."
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains a narrator, Yazid bin Iyad, on whose weakness there is agreement. (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Other hadiths on this subject will come in the chapter on fasting, if Allah wills; I have mentioned this one only because of what has been transmitted about the disapproval of a blind person giving the adhan.
