Shaddad narrates: Sayyiduna Abu Dharr al-Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) heard a hadith from the tongue of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in which there was strictness regarding some ruling. Then he went to his people and kept calling them (to it, on the basis of that hadith). After that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) granted a concession regarding that matter, but Sayyiduna Abu Dharr al-Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) did not hear of that concession, so he remained bound by the strict ruling.
Imam Ahmad recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Ibn Lahi'ah, who is da'if (weak). Tabarani also recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir.

Al-Dahhak bin Muzahim narrates: Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) passed by a popular preacher. Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) kicked him with his foot and said: "Do you know the difference between the abrogating and the abrogated (al-nasikh wa al-mansukh)?" He asked: "What are the abrogating and the abrogated?" Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: "Do you not know what the abrogating and the abrogated are?" He replied: "No." So Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: "You have been ruined, and you have ruined (others)."
Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains a narrator, Abu Rashid, the freed slave of Banu Amir, and I have not seen anyone mention him.
