عَنْ وَاثِلَةَ بْنِ الْأَسْقَعِ قَالَ : أَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - " أَنْ نَتَفَقَّهَ فِي الدِّينِ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ ، وَفِيهِ بَكَّارُ بْنُ تَمِيمٍ ، وَهُوَ مَجْهُولٌ .

Sayyiduna Wathilah bin al-Asqa' (may Allah be pleased with him) relates: "The Messenger of Allah commanded us to acquire understanding of the religion (that is, knowledge of the religion)."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains Bakkar bin Tamim, who is majhul (unknown).

وَعَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : " مَنْ يُرِدِ اللَّهُ بِهِ خَيْرًا يُفَقِّهْهُ فِي الدِّينِ " .

Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Whomever Allah Almighty intends good for, He grants him understanding of the religion."

A single scholar is harder upon Satan than a thousand worshippers. Everything has a pillar, and the pillar of this religion is understanding (that is, knowledge of the religion)."

وَعَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ - يَعْنِي ابْنَ مَسْعُودٍ - قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِذَا أَرَادَ اللَّهُ بِعَبْدٍ خَيْرًا فَقَّهَهُ فِي الدِّينِ ، وَأَلْهَمَهُ رُشْدَهُ " .

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When Allah Almighty intends good for a servant, He grants him understanding of the religion and inspires him with right guidance."
