Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The example of the believer is like that of the perfume-seller: if you sit with him, he will benefit you; if you walk with him, he will benefit you; and if you go into partnership with him, he will benefit you."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains a narrator, Layth bin Abi Sulaym, who is a mudallis (one who conceals defects in the chain).

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The example of the believer is like the date-palm: whatever comes to you from it benefits you."
(Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: This hadith is in the "Sahih", but without these words: "Whatever comes to you from it benefits you."
Al-Bazzar recorded it, and its narrators have been declared trustworthy. Sufyan bin Husayn is considered da'if (weak) in what he narrates from al-Zuhri, but he did not narrate this one from al-Zuhri.
(Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Narrations about "the example of the believer is like the tender stalk of a crop", and others, will come later; some of them in the chapter on illness and its reward and in the chapter on funerals, and some in the chapter on manners (adab).
