Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The angels fought alongside the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) only on the occasion of the Battle of Badr; apart from that, they were present only to increase the numbers. (On the occasion of the Battle of Badr) the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had only two horses with him, one of which belonged to Sayyiduna al-Miqdad bin al-Aswad (may Allah be pleased with him) and the other to Sayyiduna Abu Marthad al-Ghanawi (may Allah be pleased with him).
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains Abd al-Aziz bin Imran, who is da'if (weak).
