Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 9978

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) says: We never heard anyone implore for his right as earnestly as Sayyiduna Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) implored on the occasion of the Battle of Badr. He was saying: "O Allah, I implore You by what You have promised me. If You destroy this band, You will not be worshipped." Then he turned, and his face was like the moon, and he said: "It is as if I am even now looking at where the enemy will fall this evening (of the next day)."
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy), except that the narrator Abu Ubaydah did not hear from his father (Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him)).
