Sayyiduna Rifa'ah bin Rafi' bin Malik bin al-Ajlan al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: On the day of Badr we came forward and found the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) missing. We called out to the various groups: "Is the Messenger of Allah among you?" Then the people halted until the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) arrived, and Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) was with him. The people submitted: "O Messenger of Allah, we found you missing!" He said: "Abu al-Hasan was feeling pain in his stomach, so I stayed behind for his sake."
Al-Tabarani recorded it. Its chain contains a narrator, Abu Ma'shar Najih, who is da'if (weak), but his hadith is to be written down.
