Sayyiduna Jubayr bin Mut'im (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Mut'im bin Adi said (to the polytheists of Makkah): "Whatever you have done to (Sayyiduna) Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), you have done; but now be the most restrained of people towards him!" Abu Jahl said: "Rather, become even harsher opponents of him." Al-Harith bin Amir bin Nawfal said: "By Allah, whatever he has called out to you openly or said in secret, in every matter the cause of (Sayyiduna) Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) keeps on prevailing." A narrator named Abu Yusuf says: Al-Harith bin Amir was killed at the Battle of Badr in a state of disbelief.
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Ya'qub bin Muhammad al-Zuhri, who is da'if (weak) and a mudallis, though he has also been declared trustworthy.
