It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with him): When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to Madinah, (the narrator states:) his she-camel stopped at the spot which (now) lies between the houses of Imam Ja'far al-Sadiq and Imam al-Hasan bin Zayd. The people came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "O Messenger of Allah, which will be the place of residence?" Then the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) she-camel stood up with him on it. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Leave her be! She is under command." Then she set off with him until she brought him to the place where the pulpit stands. There she stopped and sat down. At that spot people had built a shelter, where they used to sprinkle water and cool themselves. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) dismounted from his mount, came to the shade and stayed there. Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) came to him and said: "O Messenger of Allah, my house is the nearest of all houses, so move your mount (or baggage) there." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "All right!" So he took the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) baggage to his house. Another man came to him and said: "O Messenger of Allah, stay with me!" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A man is with his baggage, wherever it is." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stayed at that place for twelve days, until he had the construction of the mosque begun.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains a narrator, Siddiq bin Musa, about whom al-Dhahabi says: He is not a proof (hujjah).
