Sayyidah Asma bint Yazid (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: I am one of the women from whom the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took the pledge of allegiance. The narrating woman says: I was a young girl and was bold in asking him questions. I said: "O Messenger of Allah! Extend your hand so that I may shake hands with you." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I do not shake hands with women; I take from them the covenant that Allah Almighty has taken from them." After this the narrator mentioned the full hadith.
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Ibrahim bin al-Hakam bin Aban, who is matruk (abandoned).
