Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: During the Hajj season, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to go to various people and say: "Is there any man who will take me to his people? For the Quraysh prevent me from conveying the word of my Lord." A man from the tribe of Hamdan came to him. He asked: "Where are you from?" He replied: "From Hamdan." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Do your people have strength (to protect)?" He replied: "Yes!" Then that man feared that his people might break his pledge, so he came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "I will go to those people and tell them about this, and then I will come to you next year." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Very well." Then that man left, and then the delegation of the Ansar came in the month of Rajab.
Ahmad recorded it, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
