Sayyidah Raqiqah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to Ta'if seeking support, he came to her. She ordered a drink of sawiq (barley gruel) to be prepared for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) drank it. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me: "Do not worship their idol, and do not pray facing it." I said: "In that case they will kill me!" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If they say anything to you about this, then say: '(It is) for the Lord of this idol.' And when you pray, turn your back towards it." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) left those people. The daughter of Sayyidah Raqiqah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: My two brothers, Sufyan bin Qays bin Aban and Wahb bin Qays bin Aban, told me that when the tribe of Thaqif became Muslim, they went out to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He asked: "How is your mother?" They said: "She died in the same state in which you left her." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "In that case, your mother was a Muslim."
Al-Tabarani recorded it. Its chain contains a narrator whom I do not know.
