Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 979

Sayyiduna Wahshi bin Harb (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Soon knowledge will be snatched away from people, until they will have no power over any of it." Sayyiduna Ziyad bin Labid (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "How will knowledge be snatched away from us when we have read the Qur'an and have taught it to our children as well?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "May your mother lose you, O son of Labid! This Torah and Injil were also with the Jews and the Christians, yet they did not even raise their heads (towards them)."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain is hasan (good).
