Sayyiduna Abu Layla (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I was present with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) at the conquest of Khaybar. When they were routed, we fell upon their dwellings, and the people took whatever sheep they found. No sooner had the pots come to the boil than they were overturned. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) divided (the spoils) among us, and he assigned one sheep for every ten people.
Ahmad recorded it. Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat in an abridged form, cutting short the mention of the plunder and the overturning of the pots, and Abu Ya'la recorded it likewise. Ahmad's narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
