Abu Rafi' narrates: Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) was leaning against Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), and Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyiduna Sa'id bin Zayd (may Allah be pleased with him) were also present with him. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Know that I have not said anything regarding kalalah, and I have not appointed a successor after me. Whatever captives of the Arabs there are at the time of my death will be counted as freed from the wealth of Allah." After this the narrator mentioned the complete hadith, which has already passed in the chapter on wills.
Imam Ahmad recorded this narration. Its chain contains a narrator, Ali bin Zayd; the hadith he narrates is hasan (good), and there is weakness in him.
