وَعَنْ عُتْبَةَ بْنِ عَبْدٍ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : " أَرِنِي سَيْفَكَ " فَسَلَّهُ فَنَظَرَ إِلَيْهِ فَإِذَا فِيهِ دِقَّهٌ وَضَعْفٌ فَقَالَ : "لَا تَضْرِبَنَّ بِهَذَا وَلَكِنِ اطْعَنْ بِهِ طَعْنًا" .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ وَفِيهِ عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ بْنُ الضَّحَّاكِ وَهُوَ مَتْرُوكٌ .

Sayyiduna Utbah bin Abd (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Show me your sword." He drew it, and the Prophet looked at it and found it thin and weak. He said: "Do not strike with this; rather, thrust with it."
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains Abd al-Wahhab bin al-Dahhak, who is matruk (abandoned).
