Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Everything that belongs to the amusements of this world is vain, except three things: your shooting with your bow, your training your horse, and your playing with your wife, for these are part of the truth." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Practise archery and practise riding, and your practising archery is dearer to me. Allah Almighty will admit three people into Paradise because of a single arrow: the one who makes it, hoping for reward in making it; the one who hands it over; and the one who shoots it." (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: After this he mentioned the full narration, and the complete narration has already passed in the chapter on voluntary charity.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains Suwayd bin Abd al-Aziz. Ahmad says: He is matruk (abandoned). The majority declared him da'if (weak), while Duhaym declared him thiqah (trustworthy). The remaining narrators of this report are thiqat (trustworthy).
