وَعَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ وَسَمُرَةَ بْنِ جُنْدُبٍ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : " وَلَدَ نُوحٌ ثَلَاثَةً : فَسَامُ أَبُو الْعَرَبِ ، وَحَامُ أَبُو الْحَبَشَةِ ، وَيَافِثُ أَبُو الرُّومِ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ ، وَرِجَالُهُ مُوَثَّقُونَ .

Sayyiduna Imran bin Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyiduna Samurah bin Jundub (may Allah be pleased with him) report this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Sayyiduna Nuh (peace be upon him) had three sons: Sam is the forefather of the Arabs, Ham is the forefather of the Abyssinians, and Yafith is the forefather of the Romans."
Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, and its narrators have been declared trustworthy.
