Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 9297

It is reported about Sayyiduna Shaddad (may Allah be pleased with him) that he came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and gave him the pledge of allegiance for emigration (hijrah); then he fell ill. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Shaddad! What is the matter with you?" The narrator says: I said: "O Messenger of Allah! I have fallen ill. If I drink the water of Buthan, I will recover." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then why do you not do so?" I said: "Because of my emigration." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Go! Wherever you are, you will be counted as an emigrant."
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains a group of narrators whom I do not know.
