Al-Farazdaq bin Hibban narrates: Shall I not narrate to you a hadith that my ears heard and my heart preserved, and which I have not forgotten since? Once Ubaydullah bin Haydah and I were on the road to Syria, and we passed by Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with him). He told us: A bold Bedouin man from the people of you two came and said: "O Messenger of Allah! Where is emigration (hijrah) to be? Is it to you, wherever you may be, or to a specific land, or to a particular people? Or, when you pass away, will it come to an end?" The narrator says: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) remained silent for a while, then he said: "Where is the man who asked about emigration?" He said: "O Messenger of Allah! Here I am." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When you establish the prayer and pay the zakah, you will be an emigrant, even if you die in Hadramah." The narrator says: This is the name of a place in Yamamah.
