Abu al-Walid al-Qurashi narrates: I was with Bilal bin Abi Burdah when a man from the Abd al-Qays tribe came to him and said: "May Allah Almighty keep the Amir well! The people of al-Taff do not pay the zakah of their wealth." The narrator said: I knew about what he had said, so I informed the Amir. He asked: "Whom are you from?" He replied: "From the Abd al-Qays tribe." He asked: "What is your name?" He said: "So-and-so, son of so-and-so." He wrote to the chief of his police and said: "Send someone to the Abd al-Qays tribe and ask about so-and-so, son of so-and-so: what is this man's lineage like among them?" The messenger came back and said: "I found that his lineage is called into question." Bilal bin Abi Burdah said: "Allahu Akbar! My father narrated this hadith to me from my grandfather, Sayyiduna Abu Musa al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'None oppresses people except one born of fornication, or one who has a strain of it in him.'" The narrator Abu al-Walid reported the words: "(None) strives (against people)."
Al-Tabarani recorded it; Abu al-Walid al-Qurashi is majhul (unknown), and the rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
