بَابٌ فِيمَنْ شَدَّ سُلْطَانَهُ بِالْمَعْصِيَةِ .
One who strengthens his authority through sin
Majma al-Zawaid 9174 — One who strengthens his authority through sin
عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ سَعْدِ بْنِ عُبَادَةَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : " مَنْ شَدَّ سُلْطَانَهُ بِمَعْصِيَةِ اللَّهِ - عَزَّ وَجَلَّ - أَوْهَنَ اللَّهُ كَيْدَهُ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ " .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ ، وَفِيهِ ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ ، وَحَدِيثُهُ حَسَنٌ ، وَفِيهِ ضَعْفٌ ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ ثِقَاتٌ .

Sayyiduna Qays bin Sa'd bin Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever strengthens his ruler in disobedience to Allah, Allah Almighty will weaken his scheming until the Day of Resurrection."
Ahmad recorded it; its chain contains Ibn Lahi'ah, whose hadith is hasan (good) though there is weakness in him, and the rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
