Sayyidah Umm Layla (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: We gave the pledge of allegiance to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Among the undertakings he took from us was that we would apply a deep dye, that we would comb our hair with honey, and that we would always keep henna on our hands. That lady narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded us that when any one of us women is able to wear bracelets made of silver on her hands (she should do so), and if she is not able to, then she should apply henna to both her hands, even if it be of sayr (a plant). He said: "You women, do not imitate men."
Imam Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat and al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, twice with a single chain. Its chain contains a narrator whom I do not know.
