بَابُ مَا جَاءَ فِي الشَّارِبِ وَاللِّحْيَةِ وَغَيْرُ ذَلِكَ .

وَعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " إِنَّ أَهْلَ الشِّرْكِ يُعْفُونَ شَوَارِبَهُمْ ، وَيُحْفُونَ لِحَاهُمْ ، فَخَالِفُوهُمْ ، فَأَعْفُوا اللِّحَى ، وَحُفُّوا الشَّوَارِبَ " .
رَوَاهُ الْبَزَّارُ بِإِسْنَادَيْنِ فِي أَحَدِهِمَا عَمْرُو بْنُ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، وَثَّقَهُ ابْنُ مَعِينٍ وَغَيْرُهُ ، وَضَعَّفَهُ شُعْبَةُ وَغَيْرُهُ ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ ثِقَاتٌ .

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The polytheists keep their moustaches long and their beards short, so oppose them: let your beards grow and have your moustaches trimmed short."
Al-Bazzar recorded it with two chains. One of them contains the narrator Amr bin Abi Salamah, whom Yahya bin Ma'in and others declared thiqah (trustworthy), while Shu'bah and others declared him da'if (weak); the remaining narrators of this report are thiqat (trustworthy).
