عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ قَالَ : كُنَّا عِنْدَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ - يَعْنِي ابْنَ مَسْعُودٍ - فَجَاءَ ابْنٌ لَهُ عَلَيْهِ قَمِيصٌ مِنْ حَرِيرٍ قَالَ : مَنْ كَسَاكَ [ هَذَا ] ؟ قَالَ : أُمِّي . قَالَ : فَشَقَّهُ ، قَالَ : قُلْ لِأُمِّكَ تَكْسُوكَ غَيْرَ هَذَا .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ بِإِسْنَادَيْنِ ، وَرِجَالُ أَحَدِهِمَا رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .

Abd al-Rahman bin Yazid narrates: The son of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) came to him wearing a silk shirt. He asked: "Who clothed you in this?" He replied: "My mother." The narrator says: So Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) tore it and said: "Tell your mother to clothe you in something other than this."
