Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa'd al-Sa'idi (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said (that is, he (peace and blessings be upon him) supplicated): "O Allah! May I not live to see a time (the narrator is in doubt; perhaps the words are:) may you not live to see a time in which the knowledgeable person is not followed, and in which the forbearing person is not respected; the people's hearts will be like the hearts of non-Arabs, and their tongues will be like the tongues of the Arabs."
Ahmad recorded it; its chain contains Ibn Lahi'ah, who is da'if (weak).
