It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hadrad (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Practise archery, wear coarse clothing, and walk barefoot."
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; however, in place of the word "intadilu" (practise archery) he transmitted the word "tama'dadu" (adopt a hardy life). The chain of this report contains a narrator, Abdullah bin Sa'id bin Abi Sa'id al-Maqburi, and he is da'if (weak). He
also recorded this report in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, and in it he transmitted the word "tama'dadu" (adopt a hardy life).
