وَعَنْ كُرَيْبِ بْنِ أَبْرَهَةَ قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا رَيْحَانَةَ يَقُولُ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - يَقُولُ : " إِنَّهُ لَا يَدْخُلُ مِنَ الْكِبْرِ شَيْءٌ الْجَنَّةَ " .
قَالَ : فَقَالَ قَائِلٌ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنِّي أُحِبُّ أَنْ أَتَجَمَّلَ بِسَيْرِ سَوْطِي وَشِسْعِ نَعْلِي . فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " إِنَّ ذَلِكَ لَيْسَ بِالْكِبْرِ ، إِنَّ اللَّهَ جَمِيلٌ يُحِبُّ الْجَمَالَ ، إِنَّمَا الْكِبْرُ مَنْ سَفِهَ الْحَقَّ ، وَغَمَصَ النَّاسَ بِعَيْنَيْهِ " .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ ، وَرِجَالُهُ ثِقَاتٌ ، وَرَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ وَالْأَوْسَطِ .

Kurayb bin Abrahah says: I heard Sayyiduna Abu Rayhanah (may Allah be pleased with him) say: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Nothing of arrogance will enter Paradise (that is, an arrogant person will not enter Paradise)." The narrator says: A man said: "O Messenger of Allah, I like my whip to be fine and the strap of my sandal to be fine." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "That is not arrogance. Indeed, Allah Almighty is Beautiful and loves beauty. Arrogance belongs to the one who rejects the truth and looks down on people."
Imam Ahmad recorded it, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat.
