What to say when putting on a new garment

وَعَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ : لَبِسَ حُذَيْفَةُ ثِيَابًا جُدُدًا فَقَالَ : " الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي وَارَى عَوْرَتِي وَجَمَّلَنِي فِي عِبَادِهِ " .
ثُمَّ قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - إِذَا لَبِسَ ثِيَابًا جُدُدًا قَالَ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ أَبُو دَاوُدَ الْأَعْمَى ، وَهُوَ مَتْرُوكٌ .
ثُمَّ قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - إِذَا لَبِسَ ثِيَابًا جُدُدًا قَالَ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ أَبُو دَاوُدَ الْأَعْمَى ، وَهُوَ مَتْرُوكٌ .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: Sayyiduna Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) put on new clothes and recited this supplication: "All praise belongs to Allah Almighty, who has given me what covers my private parts and has given me adornment among His servants." Then he related that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) put on new clothes, he would recite words like these.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains Abu Dawud al-A'ma, who is matruk (abandoned).
